The fundamental objective of this research work is to assess the parenting styles of rural families in the psychosocial development of adolescent women and men, in the community of Cacaulí, Municipality of Somoto. A sample of 13 mothers, fathers and guardians of adolescents was selected, which is justified by the need to explore in depth their experiences and perceptions. A questionnaire of dimensions was developed that shows five purposes to be evaluated, parental role, perspectives on parenting styles, attitudes, independence, obedience and approval. The questionnaire was applied individually, guaranteeing an environment of trust and respecting the expression of their opinions. This instrument allowed for the collection of detailed information on family characteristics and the most prevalent parenting styles. The data obtained was organized in an information matrix, classifying througwereach category, and an analysis of each response was also made. The study is descriptive since it seeks to characterize the most predominant parenting styles in families. In the sample studied, the democratic style was evident, which suggests that this type of parenting is the most prevalent used by mothers, fathers, and guardians of the Cacauli community.
