The text aims to analyze the relationship between the condition of blindness that can affect a subject and its implications in the subject's poietic activity. To do this, we turn to Heidegger's reflection on poiesis as a common root of the current concepts of technique and art, illustrating how the situation of blindness can be favorable (or not) for poietic practices. The analysis will be developed considering, initially, one of the first literary examples of Modernity to raise the relationship between blindness and poiesis: the last scene of Goethe's Faust, where the protagonist, after having gone blind, decides to build a dike to contain the force of the sea. In a second part, our observations will be complemented with the study of some clinical cases that Oliver Sacks exposes in his works to highlight other facets of the relationship between blindness and poiesis in a context of literary non-fiction. With this analysis, it is clearly explained that there is a relationship between poiesis and blindness in Goethe's Faust and the features of said correlation are identified, also highlighting its relevance in the therapeutic and existential field of studies on blindness.
