SCOPE AND POLICY
Thematic
The focus of the Journal considers topics related to the following areas of knowledge: Humanities, Social Sciences and General Education.
Contributions
"International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" preferably publishes educational results, written in Spanish or English. Reflections can also be sent, as well as selected literature reviews (state-of-the-art articles).
The works must be original and include final research results, in addition to not having been published in any medium or being in the process of publication, being the responsibility of the authors to comply with this standard. Contributions to the journal can be:
. Research: 5,000/7,500 words of text, including title, abstracts, descriptors, tables, and references (in English, 5,000-7,000).
. Reflections: 5,000/7,500 words, including title, abstracts, descriptors, tables and references (in English version, 5,000-7,000).
. Revisions: 6,000/8,500 words of text, including tables and references. Comprehensive review of the state of the art of a recent and current research topic. The justified and selective bibliography of 50 to 100 works (in the English version, 6,000-8,000) will be evaluated.
"International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" is published twice a year (twenty-six articles per year) and thirteen articles per issue with two sections in each of them:
. Articles product of research: section of academic texts that present the original findings of an empirical, theoretical or experimental study or research, with a public call for the submission of articles through the call for papers, coordinated by experts in the field such as Editors.
. Reflection articles: section of texts that present a critical, interpretive, or evaluative analysis on a specific topic, usually based on a thorough review of the existing literature or the author's experience in the field. They focus on proposing new perspectives, interpreting existing concepts or theories, or debating emerging issues.
The Editorial Board assigns the manuscripts to the most relevant section.
Authors may submit manuscripts for evaluation without a predetermined date, although, for entry purposes, they will be considered received on the last day of each month. The monographs close two months before the publication of the journal.
EDITORIAL PROCESS
«Revista Internacional de Pedagogía e Innovación Educativa» acknowledges receipt of the works sent by the authors and informs through the OJS platform of the process of estimation/rejection, and acceptance/rejection, as well as, in case of acceptance, of the editing process.
Within a maximum period of 30 days, from the receipt of each work, they will receive notification of receipt, indicating whether the work is rejected or if the work is preliminarily estimated for evaluation by the scientific advisors. In the event that the manuscript presents formal deficiencies or is not included in the thematic focus of the publication, the Editorial Board will formally or thematically reject the work without the option of return. No subsequent correspondence will be maintained with authors of rejected articles. On the other hand, if there are superficial formal deficiencies, it will be returned to the author for correction before the start of the evaluation process. The date of entry of the work will not be counted until the manuscript is correctly received. It is recommended that the manuscript be checked with the self-check before submission.
Manuscripts will be scientifically evaluated, double-blind, by expert peers. Based on the external reports, it will be decided to accept/reject the articles for publication, as well as the introduction, if appropriate, of the appropriate modifications, in terms of length, structure or style, respecting the content of the original. The protocol used by the journal's reviewers is public. The period for scientific evaluation of works, once the previous procedures for estimation by the Editorial Board have been completed, is a maximum of 30 days. The average time for scientific review is 15 days and final acceptance is 15 days. The papers submitted for "call for papers", their scientific review dates begin at the end of the papers.
Work that is positively evaluated, requiring modifications (both minor and major), will be returned within a maximum of 15 days. All authors will receive the scientific evaluation reports, anonymously, so that they can make (where appropriate) the appropriate improvements or replications.
The authors of accepted articles, before the final edition, will receive the proofs for correction by email in PDF format, for spelling-typographic correction in a maximum of three days. Only minimal corrections can be made to the content of the original manuscript already evaluated. Once the manuscript has finally been accepted, the authors will submit the final version in English or Spanish (depending on the original version) for the bilingual edition of the "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation", which will guarantee its consultation and international dissemination. The translated text must have professional quality.
Prior to the publication of the issue of the journal, the articles will be available with their corresponding DOI in the OnlineFirst section (articles in press) on the official website of the journal.
In general, once the external scientific reviews have been seen, the criteria that justify the decision on the acceptance/rejection of the works by the Editorial Board are the following:
. Actuality and novelty.
. Relevance and significance: advance of scientific knowledge.
. Reliability and scientific validity: proven methodological quality.
. Organization (logical coherence and formal presentation).
. External support and public/private financing.
. Co-authorship and degree of internationalization of the proposal and the team.
. Presentation: good writing.
Authors will be able to access the publication online, both in the OnlineFirst and final versions.
Authors undertake to be members of the International Council of Scientific Reviewers, once their manuscript has been published, for the following three years of publication.
Presentation and structure of originals
Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively by OJS 3:(https://editic.net/journals/index.php/ripie/index). All authors must register, with their credits, on the OJS platform, although the first author will be responsible for correspondence. No author may submit or have two manuscripts under review simultaneously.
The works will be presented in Times New Roman 12 font, simple line spacing, justified in full and without tabs or carriage returns between paragraphs. Only the large blocks (title, author, abstracts, descriptors, and epigraphs) are separated with a return. The page must be 2 cms. in all margins. Papers are presented in Word for PC. The publication standards are based on APA 7:(http://bit.ly/2JkuWs8).
The manuscript must be submitted, strictly following the attached normative template.
Cover
This file, signed by the authors, includes:
Full name and surname of each of the authors in order of priority (the number must be justified by the topic, its complexity and its length, with the average of the area being three authors). In the case of more than three authors, it is prescriptive to justify the original contribution of the team, since it will be taken into account in the estimation of the manuscript. The names must be followed by the work centre, the email address of each author and the ORCID number. The academic signature (name) should be standardized in accordance with international conventions to facilitate identification in major databases (https://bit.ly/2yTpsmn). It is prescriptive to register with the International Register of Researchers (ORCID) (http://orcid.org).
In addition, a declaration of the following is included:
. Be an original contribution.
. Funding statement.
. Not sent, during the evaluation process and publication to other journals.
. Confirmation of the signatory authorships.
. Contribution of the signatory authors.
. Acceptance, if applicable, of formal changes to the manuscript in accordance with the rules.
. Partial transfer of rights to Editorial Ed&TIC.
Manuscript
This file will contain:
. Title of the article (concise but informative), in Spanish in the first line and then in English, made up of as many significant terms as possible. A maximum of two lines are accepted (maximum 80 characters with spaces). If these do not correctly reflect the meaning of the work, it may be modified.
. Abstract in Spanish of 220/230 words, where the objective of the research, the methodology used, the most outstanding results and main conclusions will be concisely described, with the following structure: justification of the topic, objectives, methodology of the study, results and conclusions. It should be written impersonally: "The present work analyzes...".
. Abstract in English of 200/210 words.
. 6 Palabras Clave en Español / 6 Palabras en inglés. "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" has a Thesaurus in Spanish of descriptors (keywords) with the simple terms most used in the topics of the journal. The use of these descriptors and the UNESCO Thesaurus is recommended. Only in exceptional cases are new terms accepted. Terms must be in standardized scientific Spanish/English.
. Introduction and state of the art: It must include the foundations and purpose of the study, using bibliographic citations, as well as the review of the most significant literature on the subject at the national and international level.
. Material and methods: It will be presented with the precision that is convenient for the reader to understand and confirm the development of the research. Where appropriate, the sample and the sampling strategies will be described, as well as the type of statistical analysis used. If it is an original methodology, it is necessary to explain the reasons that have led to its use and describe its possible limitations.
. Analysis and results: An attempt will be made to highlight the most important observations, describing, without making value judgments, the material and methods used, as well as the most relevant results of the research. The results will be presented in figures and/or tables according to the rules of the journal (see other annotations). They will appear in a logical sequence in the text, the essential tables or figures, avoiding data redundancy.
. Discussion and conclusions: It will summarize the findings, relating the observations themselves with other studies of interest, pointing out contributions and limitations, without reiterating data already commented on in other sections. Inferences from the findings and their limitations, including deductions for future research, should be mentioned, as well as linking conclusions to the objectives of the study, avoiding gratuitous statements and conclusions not fully supported by the data of the work.
. Notes: They are considered exceptional and will always go at the end of the article (collected before the references). They must be incorporated manually, since the automatic process of Word is not recognized by desktop publishing systems. The numbers of the notes are placed in superscript both in the running text and in the final note, being placed in the text before the closing period or comma. Notes that include simple bibliographic citations (without comments) are not allowed, as these must be included in the references.
. Support: The Council Science Editors recommends that authors specify the source of funding for the research. Priority will be given to works with the endorsement of national and international competitive projects.
. References: Bibliographic citations should be summarized in the form of references to the text. Bibliography not cited in the text should not be included. Their number must be sufficient and necessary to contextualize the theoretical framework, the methodology used and the research results in an international research space. They will be presented alphabetically by the author's first surname (adding the second only in case the first is in very common use, and joined with a hyphen). Quotations must be extracted from the original documents – preferably journals and to a lesser extent books – always indicating the beginning and end page of the work from which they come, with the exception of complete works. Given the importance for citation rates and the calculations of impact factors, the correct citation will be assessed in accordance with APA Standard 7.0 (http://bit.ly/2JkuWs8), valuing that there are not only national references, but also prestigious international journals.
Transparency of data, analytical methods (codes) and research materials
"International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" publishes articles in which the authors must indicate the data, methods used in the analysis and materials used to carry out the research, making themselves available to readers in order to reproduce the results or replicate the procedure.
Transparency in study design and analysis
The policy of the International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation on transparency in study design and analysis is to publish papers in which authors follow these regulations to reveal key aspects of research design and data analysis. In this order, authors are encouraged to review the standards available for various research applications (http://www.equator-network.org), using those that are relevant to their objectives.
. Pre-registration of studies and analysis plans
The policy of the "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" ensures the publication of research in which the authors must indicate whether the study carried out was pre-registered with an analysis plan in an independent institutional registry. This pre-registration implies the registration of the study, the variables and conditions of data processing. The inclusion of an analysis plan entails, in turn, the specification of the sequence of the analysis or the statistical model.
. Authors should indicate in notes whether or not they pre-registered research with or without an analysis plan in an independent institutional registry.
If an author pre-registered the research with an analysis plan, they must:
. Confirm in the text that the study was registered prior to conducting the research with links to pre-registration or with an institutional seal, and that such registration adheres to the disclosure requirements of the institutional registry or those required for the pre-registered badge with analysis plans of the Center for Open Science.
. Report all analyses pre-recorded in the text or, if there were changes in the subsequent analysis plan, disclose them with their consequent explanation.
. Clearly distinguish in the text the analyses that were pre-registered from those that were not, generating sections in the results for confirmatory and exploratory data.
Replica
"International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" encourages the presentation of data and analysis procedures that can be replicated, particularly in its published research.
The use of reference managers such as RefWorks, Mendeley or EndNote is recommended, reviewing their results.
Bibliographic citation, both in the discursive thread and in the references, is essential that it responds to uniform and constant criteria. This aspect is key in a scientific journal. Inconsistencies or alterations to the established regulations are not accepted. Please respect the punctuation system: commas, periods, and semicolons.
You have to check the text with the dictionary of the word processor, since, although many erroneous terms are not detected, it solves some problems automatically. To avoid the generalized error of marking with two spaces between words, you can use the Word search engine (replace), indicating to look for double spaces to replace with one.
The tables must be incorporated into the text in Word in order of appearance, numbered in Arabic and subtitled with the description of the content. They will be used to clarify important points and will not exceed one vertical page.
Figures, such as photographs and images, must clarify the text in a relevant way and their number will not exceed six between graphs and tables. They will be presented incorporated into the text, according to their order of appearance, numbered in Arabic and titled with an abbreviated description of their content. They must be of print quality, presented within the text in .PNG format and in separate files in editable (modifiable) format. The originality of its graphic presentation with professional programs will be valued: awGraph (https://bit.ly/2SBkSOC), Plotly (https://bit.ly/2SE- VHKY), ChartGo (https://bit.ly/2qoRG0k); Online Chart Tool (https://bit.ly/2zpjA0g), etc. or other programs with 3D graphics.
Abbreviations, only those universally accepted should be used (see: Units Symbols and Abbreviations). When it is intended to shorten a term frequently used in the text, the corresponding abbreviation, in parentheses, must be accompanied the first time it appears. Roman numerals will not be used in the text, and the period to the right of zero and not the comma (for the Spanish version) will be used for decimals.
Complementary material. When it is necessary to complement the manuscript with documents and attached visual, audiovisual, statistical materials, extensive tables, complex color graphs... which for reasons of format and size cannot be inserted in the articles, these documents will go as extraordinary files, and once accepted, they will be published prescriptively and online, by the author, using the Figshare platform (http://figshare.com), with the citation of the accommodation in the manuscript being collected. This platform also offers a complementary free DOI.
ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Each author will present a responsible declaration of authorship and originality, as well as the ethical responsibilities assumed and, if necessary, a declaration of conflict of interest. Optionally, the justification for the choice of the journal will be presented.
. Unpublished. Previously published material is not accepted. Authors are responsible for obtaining appropriate permissions to partially reproduce material (text, tables, or figures) from other publications and for citing their provenance correctly. The opinions expressed in published articles are the responsibility of the authors. "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation", as an international partner of CrossRef, uses the CrossCheck anti-plagiarism tool to ensure the originality of manuscripts (https://bit.ly/2SG87SN).
. Authorship. The list of signatory authors should include only those people who have contributed intellectually to the development of the work. "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" declines any responsibility for possible conflicts arising from the authorship of the works that are published.
. Informed consent. Authors should mention, in the case of research involving persons, especially minors, that it has been carried out with informed consent.
Transfer of Copyright. The assignment of rights of the work for publication in the "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" will be included in the cover letter.
INCLUSION AND GENDER EQUALITY
"International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" is committed to gender policies that lead to parity between women and men through the following actions.
. Editorial participation. The journal adopts measures that ensure a balanced editorial composition between women and men, reflected both in the journal's organs and in the International Scientific Review Committee.
. Sex and gender in research. The journal also recommends avoiding stereotypes or social prejudices in terms of gender bias that exacerbate biological differences, reflecting on the sex composition of the samples, and analyzing the disaggregation of sex in the results.
PROMOTION AND DISSEMINATION OF THE ARTICLE
Authors undertake to participate in the maximum dissemination of their manuscript once published, as well as of the entire journal. They also undertake to actively participate in the journal's social networks in the OnlineFirst phase, as well as in the one after the final edition. "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" has a special section "Cited by" for the follow-up of the citations received. Articles should be promoted using the link to the official website (https://editic.net/journals/index.php/ripie) with their DOIs, to increase reading, citation and impact.
Before the final publication, authors are recommended to archive their OnlineFirst version on their personal and institutional websites, on scientific social networks, in repositories, in bibliographic managers, etc. The OnlineFirst must mandatorily incorporate the following mention: "This is the electronic version of an article accepted for publication in the INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PEDAGOGY AND EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION [nº/year], already available online on the official website through its DOI". Once published, the authors must explain: "This is the electronic version of an article published in INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PEDAGOGY AND EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION [nº/year]. The final version is available on the official website, on the date indicated in the OnlineFirst, through its DOI".
"International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation" encourages authors and the scientific community to promote and disseminate the works in their final version as much as possible through:
. Your contact list (emails) and social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn...).
. Institutional repository of your University and public repositories (Mendeley, Cosis...).
. Scientific social networks (ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Kudos...).
. Personal or institutional website, blog, etc.
. Google Scholar, ORCID, Research ID, Scopus ID, Dimensions, PlumX...
For the nomination of future articles by authors of the "International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation", the impact of previous works will be taken into account, so that those with citations higher than the annual average of the journal will be preferred.
CODE OF ETHICS OF THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PEDAGOGY AND EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION
The International Journal of Pedagogy and Educational Innovation is inspired by the code of ethics of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), aimed at editors, reviewers and authors alike.
AUTHOR COMMITMENTS

. Authorship: Regarding the authorship of the manuscript, the authors guarantee the inclusion of those people who have made a significant scientific and intellectual contribution in the conceptualization and planning of the work as well as in the interpretation of the results and in the writing of it. At the same time, the authors have been hierarchized according to their level of responsibility and involvement.
. Conflict of interest and disclosure: All authors are required to explicitly declare that there are no conflicts of interest that may have influenced the results obtained or the proposed interpretations. Authors must also indicate any funding from agencies and/or projects from which the research article arises.
