Comparative Study of Reading Comprehension of Boy and Girl Students at Secondary Level in Kurdistan Region, Iraq

Teaching English to Secondary School students is considered important in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq. Therefore, the present research was designed to evaluate the reading comprehension of Secondary School students in this Region. A comparison of boys and girls was made at the Secondary level by giving them a text to read and then conducting tests that were based on the same text. The sample for the research was 25 boy and 25 girl students systematically selected from various private and Government-administered Schools. Their obtained scores were through t-test and Pearson Product Movement correlation coefficient (r). The research concluded that there was no statistically significant correlation between the test scores of Secondary School student groups but there was a significantly statistical difference between “their performance”.
