Multiple intelligences in the AI era: pedagogical amplification or cognitive substitution?

Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences (TIM) redefines intelligence as a diverse spectrum of abilities, challenging the unidimensional model based on IQ. In a world dominated by artificial intelligence (AI), this perspective gains critical relevance by questioning whether machines not only replicate but also transform our unique ways of thinking and learning. Accordingly, this essay argues that AI functions as a selective amplifier of multiple intelligences, particularly enhancing logical-mathematical and linguistic capacities while highlighting the irreplaceable human singularity in emotional, creative, and contextual dimensions, thus demanding a hybrid pedagogy capable of maximizing its educational potential. The central issue does not reside in the technology itself, but in the pedagogical principles guiding its application. Therefore, algorithmic use in educational settings must foster a balanced and dynamic environment that stimulates creativity, facilitates comprehensive understanding of curricular content, and enables identification of the most suitable learning approaches according to students' age and characteristics.
